Australia says it designed a new seatbelt advertising campaign to shock motorists into compliance. The report does not say exactly what is so shocking about the new campaign. However, another report (if they are indeed related, which is not clear) says the the campaign depicts: “a teenage backseat passenger not wearing a seatbelt slamming into the back of his mother’s head and killing her when their car crashes.” Also according to the report, “Passengers aged 16 and over not wearing a seatbelt will be fined $230 and lose three demerit points. [Both] Driver and passenger will be fined.”
